Together we brainstormed his priorities and were deliberate about selecting what he wanted to surround himself with to help inspire and promote feelings of peace and happiness while reflecting a life well lived. We discussed what he still enjoyed doing, what he loathed, what was negotiable, what was not, while outlining the dimensions and boundaries of his next phase. We spoke about what got him out of bed each day, what sets his soul on fire, and hand selected belongings that supported and encouraged passion while motivating him to remain creative and feeling alive.

When we give a name to our dwelling, we begin to form an intimate relationship with it. When we name our home, we create a personal connection. When we form a connection or bond with something or someone, we enter into a reciprocal relationship and are more likely to love and care for it, and, in response, it for us. 

When we facilitate a regular family meeting, we add a valuable tool to help us manage our household efficiently, effectively, and with incredibly less friction. The benefits of a family meeting include reducing confusion and fatigue while introducing rhythm and cohesion. A family meeting provides us with a foundation upon which we can synchronize our schedules, outline expectations, collectively establish priorities, and discuss and design our objectives for our family and our home.

When our lives consist of perpetual diversions, we miss opportunities to experience wonder and awe. When we’re distracted by too many thoughts, too much stuff, some not-so-great habits, opinions, and expectations, we constrict the opening that magic requires to reveal itself. When we exchange our time trying to capture a world that just wants to be in relation with us, we risk missing out on the extraordinary.

Our bedrooms hold immeasurable power and our bed is the heart center of this restorative place. The pulse of this space vibrates within us and we are calibrated by the energy it emits.
